This is a picture of 2 Pearl Bay Avenue, Mosman.

It was my family home and was built in 1938-39. We lived here continually from 1939 until 1967.

In 1967 after a lengthy period of soaking rain, part of the large retaining wall that supported Spit Road collapsed and it became necessary to demolish the house in order to rebuild and widen Spit Road (Sydney Morning Herald article on 27/2/1967).

All that remains at the location today is the grey retaining wall beside the garage in the photo.

For many years after the demolition there was no house numbered 2 Pearl Bay Avenue. Street numbers ran 1, 3, 4, 5, etc.
