In 1966 and 1967 I and my husband Tom and two year old son Julian owned and lived aboard the “Bold Venture” for two happy years. During this time daughter Susan was born and another infant was expected so we became landlubbers again! We used to park our Hillman under the northern end of Spit Bridge and commute by dinghy. When Susan’s birth was imminent we found the car battery was flat due to the interior light left on and would not start. Luckily a starting handle was available, the last car we had with such a device, and we made it to St Margarets Hospital, long gone too.
